FREELAND WHIPPETS

The Freeland Whippets are part of the Wyoming Valley Junior Football Conference (WVJFC). All games are played at various locations throughout the Wyoming Valley and its surrounding areas. The conference is broken down into four (4) age divisions - divided by age and weight classifications. Athletes must be the following ages by August 1st.

6U Division

INSTRUCTIONAL FLAG FOOTBALL

This division is comprised of athletes ages 5-6:

WEIGHT LIMITS:

UNLIMITED tackle-2-tackle weight

SKILLED WEIGHT: 80 lbs

8U Division

REGULATION FOOTBALL

This division is comprised of athletes ages 7 & 8:

WEIGHT LIMITS:

UNLIMITED tackle-2-tackle weight

SKILLED WEIGHT: 120 lbs

10U Division

REGULATION FOOTBALL

This division is comprised of athletes ages 9 & 10:

UNLIMITED tackle-2-tackle weight

SKILLED WEIGHT: 140 lbs

12U Division

WHAT DAYS ARE GAMES PLAYED ON?

The majority of all league games are played on Sundays. Special games, playoffs, and scrimmages may be held on other days of the week.

WHEN DOES IT START? HOW LONG DOES THE SEASON LAST?

Practices for the 2024 season begin with heat acclimation the week of July 8th & the first full practice the week of July 15th. All teams practice 3-4 nights per week

Games begin August 11th. The regular season ends October 6th. Playoffs dates are TBD, but will occur after the end of regular season play.
